great ambiance but minor noise issues
The river view from our room offered stunning scenery. The breakfast menu allowed us to choose from various delightful options, and the attentive service made every meal special.
Occasional noise from the hallway slightly disturbed our peace.

I had an amazing stay at The Imperial. The small double room felt really comfortable and clean. The linens were of great quality, and I loved the attention to detail. Breakfast had loads of choices, and the staff were super friendly, making the mornings delightful. I enjoyed dinner at the bistro. the food was well cooked and reasonably priced. The location was perfect for exploring Barnstaple. On the downside, the heating wasn’t on when I arrived, which made it a bit chilly initially. parking was slightly awkward, which could be improved. I would highly recommend this place for a lovely getaway.

I had a lovely one-night stay where I enjoyed a delicious breakfast and a cozy, clean room with a great view. The garden area and sun terrace were perfect spots to unwind after a busy day. The restaurant menus were a bit confusing at first, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. 😊

Nice stay in a great spot!
We spent 4 nights in a comfy room with new furnishings and a huge bathroom. The staff were super friendly and helpful, which made it feel even more welcoming. The food was nice, but breakfast could do with a few more choices like pastries. we had a good time exploring the area!

Staying in a Standard Twin/Double Room was a delightful experience, highlighted by the excellent breakfast offering a wide variety and the impressive evening meal. The hotel’s location is perfect for exploring the town, with free parking available. Rooms are exceptionally clean and comfortable, providing a relaxing atmosphere after a day of activities. the limited options for evening entertainment might leave some needing more diversity.

Charming stay with good vibes
Had a cozy 5 nights in a deluxe river view room. The breakfast was pretty cool, lots of options, and the table service was really nice. Went for morning runs along the river, which was lovely. But man, the heating in some spots was a bit chilly. a nice place to relax!

Fantastic views from the room overlooking the river made for a relaxing stay, with the calm ambiance enhancing the experience. The dining options impressed with traditional silver service that added a touch of elegance to meals, and the food truly elevated each dining experience.
The shower setup was a real puzzle. the curtain obstructed controls, making adjustments a chore. the lack of air conditioning during hot weather turned the room into a sauna, and interestingly, the cold tap occasionally refused to cooperate, running warm instead. Some noisy disturbances in the early morning from waste collections weren't ideal either, making sleep a bit tricky.

I spent one night in a Superior Twin or Double Room. The staff were incredibly accommodating, especially when I had to switch to a pet-friendly room at the last minute. The room was clean and included lovely touches for my dog, which made me feel valued as a guest. The location by the river was charming, and while the breakfast was excellent, the shower curtain in the bathroom was a bit tricky to manage and caused a bit of a mess.

Oh, the food was spot on! The 5-course gala dinner at just 50 quid? Total bargain! And shoutout to the staff—was treated like royalty with an upgrade! Couldn't ask for more during my stay.
Bit of an awkward moment figuring out the different menus in the bar. A tad confusing, but they sorted it soon enough. All in all, a minor hiccup in an otherwise cracking stay.
